Anyone charged with drug crimes will now have to serve a minimum sentence under the new Bill C-15

On June 8, the House of Commons passed a bill to institute mandatory minimum sentencing for marijuana and other drug crimes.

Bill C-15 seeks to impose mandatory minimum penalties for marijuana and other drug offences, including 6 months for 5 marijuana plants.

Marc Emery, the founder of the BC Marijuana Party and publisher of Cannabis, is currently facing extradition to the United States on charges of distribution of marijuana seeds.

Former leader of Marijuana Party of Canada speaks to students about resolving prohibition

Marc-Boris Saint-Maurice, national executive director of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), conducted a talk titled "Resolving Marijuana Prohibition" last Wednesday at Wilfrid Laurier University.

The talk covered four fundamentals - economic development, health and medicine, social justice and policy implementation - for a national resolution for the legalization of marijuana.

Saint-Maurice has been holding such discussions across the country at universities and community centres to raise awareness of the issues surrounding prohibition and to engage in progressive discussion.

Legalizing The Marijuana Industry Is The Only Option That Makes Sense

Marijuana should be legal. This statement always seems to garner a lot of attention, and rightfully so, as there are several relatively complex issues surrounding its legalization.

However, there is absolutely no logical reason why marijuana prohibition continues to be a valid issue.

All the facts point to one solution: legalization.

Now, if you've never really thought about the legalization of marijuana, this statement may come as somewhat of a shock to you, but let me give you the facts.

Sovereignty Put In Danger As The Government Moves Towards North American Unionization

Why is it that the Canadian government is enforcing American border and legal policies? Is our government forfeiting our sovereignty in exchange for American ideologies regarding war and censorship?

Recent examples highlight the unconstitutional harmonization of policies that are just the tip of the iceberg of a union between the USA, Mexico and Canada known as the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP).

Three times in the past four months, while trying to enter Canada to attend anti-SPP and anti-war rallies, Ann Wright (a former US state department official and now an anti-war activist) has been held by border officials or denied entrance into Canada.
