DRUG ARTICLE AUTHOR DIES

Gil Puder, a veteran of the Vancouver, B.C., Police Department who wrote in
Focus Nov. 7 about ways to redirect the drug war, died Friday of cancer.

Puder was to speak Wednesday to the Seattle Downtown Rotary Club about
heroin in Vancouver and Seattle. Speakers now will be Dr. Alonzo Plough,
director of Public Health for Seattle and King County, and Dr. Rob
Thompson, executive director of the Washington Addiction Treatment Task Force.
