Alfred Lynord Mays, 37, an officer assigned to the department's crime-prevention program, and Daman Lamont Andrews, 27, were taken into custody Tuesday afternoon at their home in the 300 block of West Roy Avenue in Fresno. Mays, who was arrested on two counts of sales of narcotics, was placed immediately on administrative leave and booked into the Fresno County Jail. Mays has been a community-service officer for 61/2 years, said Deputy Dan Cervantes, a sheriff's department spokesman. Andrews was booked on five counts of sales of narcotics and probation violation. The arrests were made by the department's narcotics investigators, assisted by the SWAT team, after a search warrant was served at the suspects' home. Another man, Miguel Victor Beltran, 24, of Fresno was arrested on an outstanding warrant charging him with child neglect, according to deputies. The investigation is continuing. - --- MAP posted-by: Jo-D
