2 MILWAUKEE MEN CHARGED IN KILLING OF TEEN DURING MARIJUANA BUY

Two Milwaukee men were charged Tuesday in connection with a shooting
on the city's northwest side that killed a teenager late last month.

[name redacted], 21, and [name redacted], 34, were charged with
first-degree reckless homicide, as party to a crime and use of a
dangerous weapon in a shooting that killed Ramsey Wheeler, 19, on June
28.

A 21-year-old man who was injured during the shooting was identified
as Wheeler's brother in a criminal complaint filed Tuesday.

If convicted, [name redacted] and [name redacted] could face up to
65 years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint:

Wheeler's brother drove him to meet [name redacted] and [name redacted]
to buy marijuana in the 5600 block of N. 94th St. shortly after 9 a.m.
June 28. When the two groups met, [name redacted] opened the rear door
on the passenger side of the car and was halfway into the car to give
Wheeler the marijuana. [name redacted] was standing by the driver's side
of the car.

Wheeler's brother was looking down and texting his girlfriend just
before he saw [name redacted] pointing a semi-automatic handgun at them.

Wheeler's brother began driving away when [name redacted] started
shooting. As he drove he said he heard seven shots and saw blood coming
from his brother's face. He started driving to St. Joseph's Hospital.

[name redacted] told police that he was lighting a cigarette when he
heard a gunshot come from inside the vehicle and heard the car engine
revving.

When [name redacted] left the car, [name redacted] started to shoot at
the vehicle. [name redacted] also began to shoot. [name redacted] said
he thought the two men shot at the car between eight and 10 times.

Along with the homicide charges, [name redacted] was also charged with a
count of felony bail jumping. He was charged with a felony offense of
armed robbery, threat of force last year.

[name redacted] was also charged with being a felon in possession of a
firearm and armed robbery, as parties to a crime. [name redacted] was
convicted of two counts of armed robbery with a threat of force in March
2011.

The same day of the shooting, [name redacted] and a friend robbed a man
trying to sell them shoes. The man told Ward he didn't have a gun, and
Ward held the man at gunpoint while his friend took more than $2,000 in
cash from the man's pocket.
