Mailing Lists Hemp.net Mailing Lists

There are four mailing lists to which you may subscribe to stay informed about the Washington State hemp initiative and other hemp news.

All hemp.net mailing lists are under the automated control of the Majordomo mailing list software. Requests for subscriptions and unsubscriptions are handled automatically through specially formatted mail messages.

There is a No Spam policy in effect at Hemp.Net. The posting of commercial advertisements or promotions to any of the mailing lists maintained at Hemp.Net is prohibited. Small promotions as a part of your signature are OK.

To subscribe to any list, send mail to majordomo@hemp.net with the text "subscribe [list-name]" in the text of the message (without the quotes). For example, to subscribe to the wa-hemp list, send mail to majordomo@hemp.net with the text "subscribe wa-hemp" in the message. You may subscribe to multiple lists by adding more "subscribe [list-name]" lines to your message. Majordomo ignores the Subject: line. If you have any problems, please send me mail at robert@hemp.net. To learn more about Majordomo and its commands, click here.

You can also subscribe and unsubscribe from any of the lists using the form at the bottom of this page.

hemp-talk

hemp-talk@hemp.net is a list intended to facilitate discussion about hemp politics and strategy in Washington State. It used by the Washington Media Awareness Project which means most hemp related news concerning Washington ends up here. This list also gets a healthy dose of national drug reform discussions forwarded from DRCTalk. If you want to get *all* DRCNet posts, find out how at http://www.mapinc.org/drcn/listsub.htm.

wa-hemp-all

Occasionally there will be a message that will be appropriate for all of the above newsgroups. The special mailing list wa-hemp-all@hemp.net has been established to insure that members of multiple lists do not get duplicate copies of such messages. You can not subscribe to this mailing list. It will be generated nightly and will contain members of all of the above lists, with duplicate addresses removed. Because of its broad nature, very few announcements should be posted to this list. It is provided as a service to those people who want to sign up to multiple lists, to insure they do not get multiple copies of the same message.

All lists maintained on hemp.net are described in Majordomo parlance as unmoderated, open and private mailing lists. Anybody can subscribe to the list and all subscribers can read the archives. The lists will remain private, meaning only members of the list can post to it.

Majordomo

Majordomo, written by Brent Chapman, is an intelligent mailing list manager that consists of a set of Perl scripts (and one small binary executable). All user commands to Majordomo can be sent by electronic mail.

Obtaining a list of commands

To obtain a list of the available commands, send a message to majordomo@hemp.net with an empty subject line, and the word help, on a line by itself, at the beginning of the message body. Majordomo will send you a help message. The following sections briefly enumerate some Majordomo commands.

How to send a command to Majordomo

All Majordomo commands must be located at the very beginning of the message body. Majordomo disregards the subject field of the message. Commands pertaining to the mailing list list can be sent to list-request@hemp.net or to majordomo@hemp.net. In the latter case, the list must be specified explicitly.

Some common commands

In what follows, optional arguments are denoted by square brackets, [like this]. If you need to supply an optional arguments, don't type the brackets! The optional argument [list] is required if you send the message to majordomo@hemp.net, but not if you send it to list-request@hemp.net.
