Marie no longer has to juggle numerous medications.

After doctors found a brain aneurism embedded in her optical nerve, the Dufferin County woman discovered she would no longer live life without pain.

"I dealt with it. The pain was huge," she said.

The aneurism required extensive surgery, where part of her skull and eye socket were removed to gain access to the problem.

"They had me on so many medications before and after the surgery. ... My doctor was giving me medications to counteract side effects of other medications," Marie said. "It really messed up my system, so I kind of stopped taking all medications."

Council Opts for Staff Input on Medical Marijuana Grow-Ops

Orangeville council will hold off on discussing if the town should regulate legal medical marijuana production facilities.

Faced with a report from planning director Nancy Tuckett requesting a review of regulatory tools available for dealing with legal grow-op sites, council opted to wait until planning department staff were present before making a decision.

"I guess I could think of a thousand businesses I would rather have," said Mayor Rob Adams.

Lobby Group Will Run Vapour Lounge At Event

Campbellford -- A group of east Northumberland residents will help run Canada's first medical marijuana expo.

Medicinal Awareness (MA), a lobby group for medicinal marijuana, will operate the vapour lounge at the 'Treating Yourself Expo' at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre from July 16-18. MA is primarily based in Brighton and Trent Hills.

"Our responsibility will be to teach other med patients how to use the various vapourizers," MA member Al Graham said.

Regional - Cannabis Crops Could Create Financial Highs For Area Farmers.

While marijuana might be the obvious, illegal cannabis cash crop, the drug's non-munchie-inducing cousin, hemp, could be a viable choice for local farmers.

John Baker, president and founder of Stonehedge Bio-Resources Inc., said Eastern Ontario has the ideal climate and soil to grow hemp crops.

"This crop has potential to be a good reward to the agriculture sector," Baker said. "It's just the perfect environment for growing hemp."
