Dispensary Rules Change-and More Changes Likely on Horizon

Colorado and Washington are settling comfortably into their new normals on the marijuana-legalization front, with the feds backing off and Seattle cops even offering helpful tips on responsible pot consumption. (Do eat Doritos. Don't drive while high.)

But here in California's state capital, fitful prohibition laws keep the Schedule I narcotic off the tax rolls and in the homes of suspected criminals.

During the first week of October, Sacramento County sheriff's officials seized north of 250 marijuana plants from multiple homes, while city police violated two probationers after locating weed and handguns in their residences.

Downtown Dispensary Has a Super Convenient Location and an Excellent Selection of Edibles

Convenience is a key reason to have an Arizona medical marijuana card. The card turns the chore of getting meds into something akin to grabbing a gallon of milk-"Sure, honey. I'll grab an eighth on my way home from work."

There are suddenly a lot of dispensaries in el Pueblo Viejo, all vying for a chunk of your bud budget, so convenience has become an important part of the equation. Let's face it, most patients are unlikely to drive across town to get meds unless they have to-in which case they almost certainly will. But we don't have to waste the gas anymore, and the cannabis quality, prices and selection really don't vary much from place to place, so the Place becomes more important.

Lately I've been reading in the newspaper and hearing on the news all this stuff about a "heroin epidemic." Are these people serious? Drugs have been a part of humanity for millenia and drug "problems" are nothing new - including in this area for decades.

The reason heroin use is on the rise is doctors have become overly strict with whom they continue to prescribe to. If someone has legitimate pain problems and makes a mistake, it is practically impossible to get the help they need through legal avenues. That is the reason heroin use has increased ...

Medical cannabis was the topic of discussion on Oct. 11 when the University of Toledo hosted a free lecture in Nitschke Auditorium.

Cheryl Shuman and a panel of physicians, patients and other professionals discussed their experiences with medical marijuana and explained why they felt it should be legalized.

Shuman, also called the "Martha Stewart of Marijuana," developed cancer in 2006 and, through her use of cannabis treatments, she is now an international advocate for the legalization of medical cannabis. She stopped at UT as a part of a speaking circuit through the state to encourage the passing of the Ohio Cannabis Rights Amendment.

Marijuana advocates took a step toward making California the third state to legalize the drug for adult recreational use Thursday when Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom and the American Civil Liberties Union opened a campaign intended to land a measure before voters during the next presidential election.

Newsom, who came out in favor of legalization last year, will lead a panel of academics, drug policy experts, law enforcement authorities and officials from Colorado and Washington - the two states whose voters legalized recreational use last year.

RANCHO CUCAMONGA - Lanny Swerdlow, a Inland Empire marijuana activist, received no punitive damage award against his anti-drug opponent Paul Chabot despite a jury ruling in favor of him in a civil trial.

Jurors in West Valley Superior Court on Thursday afternoon did not find Swerdlow's suffering worthy of the $1 million punitive damages he was seeking after a 2007 incident at a Inland Valley Drug Free Coalition meeting in Rancho Cucamonga where he alleged false arrest and malicious prosecution.

Sometimes politicians should just admit they misspoke rather than than try to explain a dubious statement away.

When Gov. John Hickenlooper said in an ABC interview, "We're not going to take marijuana taxes and put it toward public education or anything like that," he was flat wrong.

Proposition AA earmarks the first $40 million in excise tax collections for school construction. And the governor undoubtedly knew that and forgot because he (along with most people who support the ballot measure) is focused on the need for the sales tax in AA that will fund regulation of cannabis outlets. That's the reason passage is so critical.
