Two people were wounded. Mariano Herran Salvatti and his wife were riding in a four-wheel drive vehicle on a main street in Mexico City early Sunday afternoon when they were fired on by two gunmen riding on motorcycles, he told reporters. Herran's bodyguards exchanged fire with the gunmen. One bodyguard and one of the gunmen were wounded. Herran Salvatti, formerly Mexico City's chief prosecutor, was appointed drug czar in March 1997 after his predecessor, Gen.
