DON'T SEND MIXED MESSAGES ABOUT DRUGS

In the past several weeks you have printed several articles regarding the
issue of the need for treatment of drug addicts. One of your articles
addresses the issue of mixed messages about drugs from those who are
responsible to fight this war. You are correct and I see that as a real
problem.

I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for using precious
space in your paper to address such an important issue. At a recent
National Association of Counties conference, I attended a seminar where
presenters stated that there is a group called MAMA that is attempting to
get into the school system to teach children how to use drugs responsibly.
The group is also responsible for a ballot initiative in November 2000 to
legalize marijuana in Florida.

I plan to do everything I can to fight against this issue and continue
fighting the war on drugs.
