ASTHMATIC'S PARENTS SUE OVER INHALER

SAN FRANCISCO -- The parents of a 4-year-old asthmatic boy have filed
a lawsuit against a preschool, alleging that it would not allow him to
bring his inhaler to class.

The lawsuit, filed Monday in U.S. District Court, contends the school
effectively denied the child admission because of his condition,
violating the Americans with Disabilities Act. The suit seeks
unspecified damages.

Jeremy Alvarez was accepted by the Fountainhead Montessori School in
Contra Costa County but was later told he could not bring his
Albuterol inhaler to class, according to his parents.

The parents offered to work with the school to show employees how to
administer the medication, but the school declined, attorney Wesley
Overson said.

Representatives of the school could not be reached for comment late
Monday.
