HARD TO CONTROL

Your article on the location and destruction of outdoor-grown
marijuana suggests that this effort has an impact on the availability
of marijuana for Powell River high-school students ["Drug busts lessen
crime," November 4]. I wonder, though, if the Powell River students
were questioned about this impact.

I assume that if they were questioned, they said that marijuana would
be easily acquired if they looked for it despite the "positive impact"
the police work has on local crime.

I believe marijuana is more difficult to control given its illegal
status. If adults purchased their pot through government-controlled
establishments: like they do alcohol: fewer children would have access
to it.
