DRUG WAR OFTEN FUTILE

Dr. Ken Brandis' letter condemning New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson's view on
legalizing drugs comes up a little shortsighted for a physician ( "Sending
the wrong message," Oct. 11 )

If the government stopped the war on certain drugs, a big portion of the
$110 billion-per-year budget could go toward education, decent jobs and
treatment facilities. At least this is a better answer than incarceration.
