ADDICTS NEED THE HELP

ALL I can say is, more power to Barbara Harris, the woman who is
offering $200 to drug addicts to get sterilized or to go on long-term
birth control (Page 1A, Oct. 20).

Maybe those who protested Harris' action should take in four babies
addicted to crack, as Harris did. They will then understand that she
is making credible statements arising out of her own personal experience.

What are the protesters doing about the problem? Talking to the media
and any fool who will listen about the rights of women and men who
don't deserve any rights, much less any sympathy? And yes, the poor
(and rich) crack addicts do need fixing, and they need it bad. This
isn't right-wing stuff, it's common-sense stuff, which, unfortunately,
isn't so common these days.
