HEALDSBURG - Two men were arrested Wednesday when they were caught stealing
a four-foot marijuana plant from a home, police said.

Officer Shawn Campbell said police received a call on Tuesday reporting that
two people were entering a home through an open window in the 500 block of
Center Street. When police arrived, they saw the men place a plastic bag
over the plant, Campbell said. As the two men tried to leave with the plant,
officers arrested them for residential burglary and criminal conspiracy.

The suspects have been identified as Jonathan Millian Evans, 19, of
Healdsburg, and Eric Alan Kocis, 19, of Windsor. Evans was released after
posting a $15,000 bond. Kocis was booked into the Sonoma County Jail in lieu
of $15,000 bail.

Campbell said the victim, an adult male, told police the marijuana was not
grown for medical purposes, but there is no evidence that it was grown for
sale. That part of the case is still under investigation, Campbell said.
