ADDICTION

Extra support: Cocaine addicts with extra problems such as unemployment or a
lack of family support need extra time and help in kicking the habit,
according to a report from The National Institute on Drug Abuse. Its study
of 1,605 cocaine users admitted to community-based treatment programs found
that patients who had no job, poor family support, who used other drugs or
alcohol or who had mental illness such as depression, needed longer and more
intense treatment.
