YOU CAN DO IT, JOHN

Our PM takes pride in the fact that he had the courage to defy conventional
wisdom by going to the polls with a GST and he succeeded. Perhaps he should
apply the same strategy to our drug law problem and have the courage to
defy conventional wisdom and reintroduce the abandoned heroin trials.

You never know, it just might work, despite what the traditional punters
say. Or could it be that our PM simply does not truly believe in his heart
of hearts that such a progressive proposition is worth the risk of
alienating a significant proportion of his constituents, who, for better or
worse, are morally opposed to this hopeful idea.

Go on, have a heart. You can do it, John, if you truly believe in your
heart of hearts that drug victims and their families are actually worth
worrying about.
