DJ GETS FINE, PROBATION IN DRUG CASE

One of two local disc jockeys arrested for using cocaine outside a
South Houston nightclub July 29 pleaded guilty Wednesday and was fined
$750 and sentenced to 4 years deferred-adjudication probation.

Stephen Shane DeBusk, known as "Shane Rambeaux," was sentenced by
visiting state District Judge Sam Bass after his lawyer struck a deal
with prosecutors.

DeBusk, 28, pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled
substance.

DeBusk said later he wanted to thank his family, friends and listeners
for the "thousands" of calls, letters and e-mails of support.

"I do not condone drugs. I just hope that people will understand that
there are trials and tribulations that everyone goes through and this
too shall pass," DeBusk said.

DeBusk said if he successfully complete the terms of his probation he
won't have a conviction on his record, and that he hopes to keep
working in Houston radio.

DeBusk's employers, country-western radio station KKBQ 92.9 FM, had no
comment about his employment status.

DeBusk and the other disc jockey arrested with him, Craig Bryant
Caudill, were suspended by the station pending the outcome of their
cases.

Caudill, whose on-air name is "Dusty McGee," was scheduled to appear
in court Wednesday but his appearance was rescheduled to Oct. 7.

Police have said the two were in a vehicle driven by Caudill when they
were arrested and that an undercover officer saw them sniffing cocaine
together.

DeBusk had been broadcasting live from a KKBQ van in the parking lot
of Graham Central Station, 3316 S. Shaver, when the arrest occurred.
