Bill Clinton wants tobacco legislation to protect our children. Does
anyone believe that raising the price of tobacco is going to reduce
tobacco use by kids? The Canadian experiment was totally unsuccessful
except at creating a black market in cigarettes from the United
States. This is just another excuse to raise taxes for every
politician's favorite program.

The only tobacco legislation that the federal government should pass
is to prevent all form of tobacco advertising; that might make a dent.

Family intervention is the one way to keep kids from smoking, not
federal legislation.
