ANIMAL FARM

Editor -- What a joy it is to live in San Francisco, where our local
officials scrutinize every state and federal law and right every injustice!
First it was the draft, and then the immigration laws, followed by needle
swap programs, pot clubs and local educators who refuse to give
state-mandated tests.

Today I see retaining bilingual education will be next on the list. Surely
when my same-sex partner of 21 years and I go down to get married, the
local San Francisco official will grant us the license, state law
notwithstanding. Or will we find out in this Animal Farm, that some in the
barnyard are more equal than others?
