Source: Gazette, The (CO) Contact: http://www.gazettenet.com Pubdate: Wed, 6 May 1998 To the Editor: On its April 29th editorial page, the Gazette applauded the arrest of participants in last weekend's pot rally who defied the prohibition laws. The April 30th editorial page featured a tribute to Rosa Parks, the civil rights pioneer who defied the segregation laws. Perhaps the Gazette would do well to heed the words of the late Professor Henry Steele Commager: "We should not forget that our tradition is one of protest and revolt and that it is stulifying to celebrate the rebels of the past...while we silence the rebels of the present."
