Pubdate: 22 Dec 1998 Author: Michael Devine POLICE SMASH DRUGS PIPELINE DETECTIVES were celebrating today after smashing a multi-million pound drugs and guns pipeline between Holland and Northern Ireland. A south Armagh man was being questioned by gardai in connection with the seizure of a major consignment of drugs and firearms in Co Monaghan. A detailed search of a warehouse on the outskirts of Castleblaney was being carried out today following the discovery of a submachinegun, 10 handguns and 250 kilos of cannabis resin with a street value of UKP2.5m in the premises last night. The arms and drugs had been imported from Holland through Dublin and were destined for Northern Ireland. The man was taken to Carickmacross for questioning and was expected to appear in court later. Meanwhile, in an unconnected development, guns, cartridges and drugs have been seized by police during a search at a house in Ballymena. There were no arrests. - --- Checked-by: Richard Lake
