Regarding the governor killing a bill to broaden news media
contact with prisoners:

In a democracy, the people have a right to know what's going on
in public institutions. The only reason to keep the media out of
our prisons is to suppress the truth about inmate conditions and
the kind of justice being dealt by California courts.

If inmates are being abused and degraded, we have a right to
know. Gov. Wilson's censorship of media contact with prison
inmates reminds me of the way Hitler, Stalin and Mao
"dissappeared" people in their slave-labor gulags and death camps.

What's going on in California prisons that Wilson is trying to hide.
