FEARING FOR TODAY'S YOUTH

Re: Legalizing weed will harm youth, warns CMA editorial, Brian Cross,
May 29 The Liberal federal government wants to bring the proposed
Cannabis Act (Bill C- 45) into force by July 2018 legalizing the use of
marijuana beginning at age 18. It is irresponsible, foolish and
dangerous for the government to condone the use of marijuana at the age
of 18 knowing the evidence indicates that the use of marijuana is
harmful to the still developing brain which, according to the CMA,
doesn't reach maturity until around age 25.

The Liberal government has further abdicated its responsibility by
leaving the final decision to the individual provinces and territories
to consider setting a higher age limit with the ridiculous potential
of different age limits for access to marijuana across the country.
Perhaps the Liberals are already trying to court the youth vote in the
next federal election at the expense of their mental health. As a
grandfather I fear for today's youth.
