T.O. POTHEADS GO GLOBAL

Bud boosters turn out for annual march

Tables of baked goods, bongs, dabs, flags and buds were readily for
sale in Queen's Park North Saturday.

Toronto's 19th annual Global Marijuana March resembled a circus
atmosphere with barkers looking for buds - and all things relating to
pot culture - before the crowd in attendance weaved through city
streets, puffing freely and cheering for their drug of choice with
Princess of Pot Jodi Emery leading the way.

"Hopefully next year it should be legal and celebrated," event
organizer Neev Tapiero said.

One pot enthusiast, who has attended the parade for the last nine
years, held a placard reading: "No limits for alcohol, why 30 grams
for pot?"

"The real argument is freedom," said the man, who identified himself
as Rusty Shackelford - an alias also used by a character in the
animated television series King Of the Hill.

"Adults should be allowed to do what they want as long as they are not
hurting anyone," he added.

The yearly march in Toronto usually attracts close to 20,000 people,
but a much smaller crowd attended in the wake of recent downpours.
