Members had to be addicted to hard drugs such as cocaine and heroine. Of the overall members, 29 out of 30 reported their drug of choice initially was marijuana. This drug led to a need for something "stronger." Regulating cannabis likely would not have the effect of driving criminals out of business. In fact, it may create more business for them as the use of marijuana becomes more widespread. The Liberal government must have taken note of the large amount of marijuana tax revenue generated into the state of Colorado and decided the many risks of legalization of marijuana (too numerous to list) are worth the additional revenues.
