GRASS NOT FOR THE GREENEST

Re: Marijuana's Youth Problem, Letters, Dec. 5

Pamela McColl asserts in her Dec. 6 letter that "the bulk of the
marijuana market is youth users." This is clearly incorrect.

According to a StatsCan paper ( Rotermann and Langlois) 80 per cent of
Canadian marijuana use is by adults, aged 18 or over. Only one in five
is under 18, and that is more a problem of the current unregulated
market. Take away the financial incentive to sell to kids, and most
sales would stop.

Does Ms. McColl see black market liquor sellers around playgrounds as
well?
