THE USERS CREATE THE DRUG PROBLEM

So many times I have wondered why the government or some antidrug
agency or organization has not taken an approach that would highlight
the true victims described by Mario Berlanga.

Instead of "just say no" or "this is your brain on drugs," the ads
should say "these are the victims of your drug use," or "this is what
happens when you use drugs," with photos and videos of the police and
judges slaughtered by drug gangs; innocent bystanders, including
children, caught in the crossfire; and family members of gang members
killed in recrimination.

There are many images that we see in the newspapers that show the true
horrors of drugs. It's time that users see them. It isn't the
suppliers who create the drug problem; it's the users, who create the
demand.
