POLICE SWARM PRINCE OF POT'S NEW SHOP

Drama erupted Friday morning inside and outside the latest Cannabis
Culture store to open in Toronto.

Around half a dozen Toronto Police officers were on site, according to
Marc Emery - the so-called Prince of Pot is a well-known figure in
Canada's marijuana industry and advocacy community.

The presence of the officers prompted Emery to begin live-streaming on
Facebook from inside the empty store, with the doors locked.

"There's a siege going on essentially, there are police officers
literally surrounding the building," he said, to reporters and camera
people he let in at one point.

But the police were only there for an eviction notice, according to on
an officer at the scene. There were no warrants executed and police
vacated the scene within three hours.

Cannabis Culture's Church St. location opened nine days
ago.

Emery said he believes his landlord called the police and stressed the
lease they signed is for five years, for a "marijuana retail outlet.

"It's very specific, there's no mistaking that this is supposed to be
a pot shop, a weed store," Emery said.
