GET ON WITH IT, YOU DOPES

Somebody please sit our leaders down, spark up a big, fat doobie and
get on with it.

All this dithering over dope is making our heads spin, even those of
us don't inhale.

Entrepreneurs are getting busted, tokers are in a tizzy, glaucoma
patients see red, freedom lovers steam.

Only street pushers are happy. Pothibition, a crook's best friend, may
be running on fumes, but it ain't dead yet.

On Monday, Toronto city councillors deferred - again - the issue of
marijuana dispensaries. Pot spokesmen who lined up to make their case
were left with their gums flapping.

Now City Hall won't deal with it until late October. Maybe they hope
to keep kicking the cannabis can down the road until everyone is too
stoned to care.

Licensing and standards committee gadfly Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti
blamed the feds for "pawning it off" on him and his poor, beleaguered
cohorts and city staff.

"(Prime Minister Justin) Trudeau should not sit on his hands on this.
He's the one who has made the suggestion (to legalize pot). He's the
one who should deal with it."

For God's sake, SOMEBODY deal with it!

(Editor's note: Not so fast, Strobel. It's the evil reefer, after all.
Calm down. Here, have a stiff belt.)

Sorry, boss, but these bozos couldn't organize a piss-up in a brewery. I
bet if the debate were over their pensions, they'd have it signed and
sealed in an hour. Here's all they really need to know about ending
Pothibition: A growing majority Canadians want it done; for instance,
68% in a Nanos poll. They're smart enough to see the folly in a
victimless "crime" and balk at the ridiculous costs of enforcing it.
Trudeau the Younger said he'd get to it first thing after storming the
Hill in 2015. He has now bumped that to next year, at the soonest. All
Junior has really done so far on the issue is name Scarborough MP Bill
Blair, our former police chief, to the pot file. All Premier Kathleen
Wynne has done is lick her chops over selling weed out of LCBO stores to
fund her myriad adventures in babysitting. She says she's just waiting
for the feds.

All the city has done is raid 47 "medical" marijuana dispensaries and
march 100 people out in handcuffs. That's what governments do when
they feel threatened, overwhelmed and confused and can't think of
anything else. They bust folks.

In classic Tory-speak, the mayor denied he is pressuring the cops to
clamp down. At a press conference after meeting Monday with Wynne, the
mayor warbled: "I sort of similarly asked the law enforcement
officials if they could take a look at what they thought they should
do, but obviously understanding that I have no control over that."
Obviously. Instead, I suggest our dopey politicians look west, where
their Vancouver counterparts passed rules for its rapidly sprouting
pot dispensaries - a year ago! These cover the likes of a minimum 300
metres from schools.

They will tide Lotusland over until the Trudeau Liberals get around to
legalizing weed.

Toronto is stuck in Never Never Land, with no interim regulations in
place and more raids and political hand wringing sure to come.

Give me half an hour with Tory, Wynne and Trudeau, an ounce of
Acapulco gold, or whatever they call it now, a deluxe bag of chips and
we'll bring order to this political reefer madness in no time.

If the mayor gets giggly enough, we might even come out of it with a
decent transit plan.
