PIKE'S OP-ED SHOWS THE DANGERS OF REGULAR MARIJUANA USE

Thank you for printing Anna Pike's experience with pot smoking on the
Opinion Page of Sunday's Province.

She respects the use of cannabis for those with chronic pain or in
palliative care with incurable ailments, but tells of the effects on
her life of smoking marijuana for 22 years.

She describes her life as living in a "paranoid fog" then shares the
joy, improved memory, energy and love of life that she has now after
butting out in November.

She also expressed her fear about the current move to make marijuana
more available, likening it to earlier moves to lure people to smoke
cigarettes. Pike is dead on! When I was a teen, the pressure to smoke
was tremendous. We were smoking led to popularity, acceptance and self
assurance.
