LETTERS ASSIGNED TO BALLOT MEASURES

Letter designations have now been assigned to the three measures on
the June 7 ballot in Yuba County.

The initiative that would replace the county's ordinance on medical
marijuana cultivation with less restrictive rules is Measure A.

Titled The Yuba County Medical Marijuana Cultivation Act of 2015, it
asks, "Shall the ordinance that would increase the number of medical
marijuana plants that may be cultivated on parcels of land greater
than one acre and allow for cultivation of medical marijuana outdoors
and within residences be adopted?

The initiative that would establish guidelines for allowing marijuana
dispensaries in Yuba County is Measure B.

Titled The Patients Access to Regulated Medical Cannabis Act of 2015,
it asks, "Shall the ordinance that authorizes licenses (for) medical
marijuana dispensaries that will provide medical marijuana to
qualified patients and primary caregivers in a retail setting be adopted?

Measure C is the City of Marysville Transactions and Use Tax
Ordinance. It asks, "Shall the City of Marysville enact a 1 percent
sales tax (Transactions and Use Tax) for general municipal purposes,
such as fire safety, police protection and emergency response
services, traffic safety, streets and sidewalks repair, park
improvements and maintenance, reducing debt and rebuilding financial
reserves, with the following restrictions? This tax shall expire
after ten years, on October 31, 2026. Annually, the City shall
publish a report of how much tax revenue was received and how that
money was used."

Measures A and B will be voted on by the entire county, including
voters within the city limits of Marysville and Wheatland. Measure C
will be limited to voters within the Marysville city limits.

Area Congressman John Garamendi, D-Fairfield, is supporting President
Barack Obama's nomination of Judge Merrick Garland for the vacancy on
the U.S. Supreme Court.

"The American people deserve to learn more about Judge Garland
through confirmation hearings, but Senate leadership has refused to
act," Garamendi said.

He said the "Constitution is clear."

"The president has the responsibility to nominate a candidate, and
the Senate has the responsibility to schedule a hearing and a vote,
regardless when the next election is," Garamendi said.
