JAIL TERM FOR MARIJUNA OFFENSE RIDICULOUS

In response to the Oct. 14 oped, "Sentence doesn't fit crime" by Ken
Wolski, this is why I do not respect the justice system. John
Peditto, whose trial begins Oct. 20 in Toms River, was growing 17
plants, not a field of marijuana to sell to school students, and he
may receive a prison sentence of 31-plus years?

He didn't shoot, beat up, take hostages, bully or harass anyone and
we will have taxpayers paying for 31-plus years of jail time. I hope
the jury is smarter than the system. Driving Under the Influence
violators don't even do that much time, if any.

The young man they caught for calling in bomb scares, frightening and
wasting the time of so many students, teachers and police, and
costing taxpayers, only received a sentence of one year and a day. Go figure.

All the money spent due to the bomb scares, and for 17 plants Peddito
facing so much jail time is ridiculous. What about a small fine?
That's all it warrants, not jail. I don't know Peditto. I do not
smoke, drink and only take doctor-prescribed drugs. But people and
their vices should not be judged.

Do we really know any more what a serious crime is?
