CODE ENFORCEMENT GOES DOOR TO DOOR IN BUTTE COUNTY

Four teams of Butte County Code Enforcement Officers, accompanied by
Sheriff's Deputies and District Attorney Investigators for safety, as
well as Animal Services, visited 29 residences in Bangor, Honcut, and
Palermo Tuesday to determine compliance with the County's medical
marijuana cultivation ordinance. Each team was assigned a list of
properties presumed to be in violation of the County's ordinance
based on aerial photos obtained during a flyover of the neighborhood
last week. During the visits, Code Enforcement Officers issued 19
citations for violations to the County's ordinance; some residents
received citations where multiple violations existed. Officers will
return in 72 hours to inspect the properties in order to see if
residents have come into compliance with the ordinance. On Tuesday,
five residents became compliant with the ordinance on the spot by
cutting down plants in an Officer's presence and no citations were
issued in those cases.

"When we returned to the office on Tuesday afternoon, a voicemail was
waiting from a resident in the area thanking us for our enforcement
efforts. The resident's neighbor had a large grow, which was brought
into compliance by removing plants during our enforcement yesterday,"
said Chris Jellison, Code Enforcement Supervisor, "we know these
efforts are making a difference for residents.

The enforcement activity in Bangor, Honcut, and Palermo is part of an
ongoing effort by Butte County Code Enforcement to for the County's
medical marijuana cultivation ordinance.
