APPROVAL OF NIPOMO MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARY IS APPEALED TO SUPERVISORS

An appeal has been filed against a proposed medical marijuana
dispensary in Nipomo, and the project will now go before the San Luis
Obispo County Board of Supervisors in October.

The project calls for a brick-and-mortar dispensary offshoot of the
mobile dispensary business, Ethnobotanica Patients Cooperative. The
storefront would be at 2122 Hutton Road in Nipomo.

The San Luis Obispo County Planning Commission approved plans for the
dispensary in a 3-1 vote, with Commissioner Jim Harrison dissenting, on July 9.

The project was appealed by Nipomo resident James Bigelow who, in his
appeal, attached letters from several Nipomo residents and Santa
Maria Mayor Alice Patino, as well as a petition with 38 signatures,
arguing against the project.

Ethnobotanica representatives have previously said they were aware an
appeal would likely be filed and are confident the board will also
vote in their favor. An official Board of Supervisors hearing is
tentatively scheduled for Oct. 6.
