MARIJUANA LAWS SHOULD BE OBEYED

Regarding the letter of Mr. Siebold of June 8 about legalization of
pot, at the time those that are not in jail committed their crimes, a
law was on the books stating the status for their disobedience, which
means a disrespect for the law by the lawbreakers. Mr. Siebold
dismisses not only the legality but also the morality of the crime.
Marijuana is a drug. It sounds as if he wants it to be legal to get
high (which is the main reason for its use), and then when something
bad happens, he can blame it on the drug instead of personal actions.

Laws are written to be obeyed and abided by. Just because a law is
continually broken does not mean it is a bad law. Consequences of
punishment by a broken law have no effect on those that do not break them.

Unfortunately, the stance Mr. Siebold has taken on this subject may
prevail, as our so-called leaders lose backbone to make a stand. But
not to worry. Even though men will deceive people about what is right
and wrong and wax worse and worse, time will come when the righteous
will establish his government. His law and judgment will be perfect.
