MORE REEFER MADNESS FROM TORIES

Re: Chill out, minister, Editorial June 14

Once again the Supreme Court of Canada has shot down the Harper
government's attempt to violate the Canadian Charter of Rights and
Freedoms - this time the court's ruling was unanimous. The issue was
whether medical marijuana can be consumed in ways other than smoking it.

Why the Harper government would endorse smoking as the only approved
way to consume medical marijuana is anyone's guess, since many who
use medical marijuana believe smoking is harmful. Perhaps that's the
Harper government's way to underhandedly discourage those who benefit
from medical marijuana from consuming it? One can only wonder how
much taxpayer money was spent in fighting this in the courts?

While Health Minister Rona Ambrose claims to be outraged at the
ruling, stating that the Supreme Court has no business approving a
drug without testing and medical reviews, she has no problem with
untested and uninspected drugs from India being incorporated into
medicines taken by Canadians every day. Nice!

Many people think that dinosaurs were extinct 65 million years ago,
but the fact is that Rona Ambrose and the Conservative Party to which
she belongs, prove that dinosaurs are alive and well in the present.
