SECOND ANNUAL 420 RALLY PLANNED

Let's get together and feel all right ... again.

The Brantford Cannabis Club is holding its second annual 420 rally.

The group, which is promoting the legalization of marijuana, invites
people to come out on Monday, April 20, to Victoria Park for some
entertainment and information.

Musical performers will include the Harbour and Chris Strei. There
will also be giveaways and merchandise.

In addition to the entertainment, there will be guest speakers.

Brantford-Brant federal NDP candidate Marc Laferriere and
Brantford-Brant Libertarian party candidate Rob Ferguson are expected
to address the crowd about updating cannabis laws in Canada.

Speakers will also include Randy Roberts, representing the Self-Help
Addiction Resource Centre (SHARC) Brantford, who will be discussing
stigmas around drug use and pathways to recovery.

There will be a moment of silence for those who have been affected by
marijuana prohibition. This includes people who have been charged or
imprisoned for possession and active medicinal users.

The Brantford Cannabis Club focuses on ending the stigma surrounding cannabis.

According to the event co-ordinator Brittni Mitchell, the club will
continue to rally every year until marijuana becomes legal.

The club also likes to do positive things for the community.

Donations for SHARC and the Brantford Food Bank will be collected.

Last year's rally raised almost 100 pounds of food for the local food
bank. This year's goal is to raise 250.

As a thank you, a ticket for a draw will be given to anyone who
donates. There is a maximum of two tickets per person.

The club will also sign up members to take part in helping rid the
"lazy stoner" stigma that follows marijuana users. Last year, the
club organized activities such as community cleanups and clothing drives.

The rally will be in Victoria Park on Monday, April 20, from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m.
