WITH ONE BALLOT AFTER ANOTHER, VOTERS HAVE ALREADY SPOKEN

Our new governor should be reminded that the voters in this state
have overwhelmingly approved all ballot questions relating to
medicinal use and decriminalization of marijuana since 2000 ("Baker
staunch in opposition to legalizing marijuana"). Regardless of what
the federal government has to say about the issue, citizens across
the country have voted for legalization for many reasons, not the
least of which is the tax revenue generated by the emerging industry.

Governor Charlie Baker and Senate President Stanley Rosenberg should
also keep in mind that the Justice Department has given a slightly
green light to Native American Tribes to grow and sell marijuana,
despite the federal laws against it. As Dylan so aptly put it: "The
times they are a-changin'."

The war over this plant and on hemp has drowned under the weight of
its own propaganda and misinformation, and Massachusetts voters know
it. We will have the last word in this 50-year-long "Reefer Madness"
movie, one way or another.
