DOCTORS WRAP UP COLORADO REPORT ON POT HEALTH EFFECTS

A panel of Colorado doctors studying the health effects of marijuana
use is getting ready to report its findings after a year of legal
recreational pot sales.

The panel meets Monday afternoon in Denver for a final time before
making a report to state lawmakers.

The panel has been reviewing scientific studies on marijuana and is
charged with suggesting regulations needed to protect public safety.

The doctors have already released partial findings on things like pot
use by nursing mothers and whether marijuana use impairs cognitive
development in children. So far the doctors have reported mixed or
limited evidence in many areas.

The doctors include pediatricians, toxicologists and an addiction
psychiatrist. The doctors must tell lawmakers by the end of the month
whether new consumer pot warnings are needed.
