LEGISLATORS PREVIEW BILLS, SEX MEETS CANNA-LUBE AND MORE

Keep an eye out for ...

Last week, members of the Independent editorial team sat down with
Rep. Pete Lee, D-Colorado Springs, and Rep. Dickey Lee Hullinghorst,
a Boulder Democrat and newly elected Speaker of the state House of
Representatives. Naturally, the lawmakers were asked what the coming
year holds for marijuana. We've previously reported potential laws
that seek to further separate children and edibles, hinder the black
market, and force recreational users with medical cards into the
recreational market.

"I think another one," says Lee, "in the criminal justice area, I've
heard some rumblings that we should take a look at some of the
situations where people have been convicted of offenses for things
which are now legal. And so I think there will be some bills coming
up in that area as well."

Hullinghorst says she expects to deal with cannabis bills every session.

"I compare it to the regulation of alcohol: Still we have bills,
every year, on regulation of alcohol, and we will see this on
marijuana from here on out," she says. "We will always have to be
tweaking how this is implemented as we learn about the issues, and
what the problems are, and how it all comes together."

Have you heard?

On Monday, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment
launched a $5.7 million multilingual radio, print and digital-media
ad campaign. Called Good to Know Colorado (goodtoknowcolorado.com),
its aim is to educate Coloradans about recreational marijuana. The
website includes statements like "Public sphere is not the place.
It's illegal to use marijuana in public," and "What you get here
can't go out there. It's illegal to take marijuana out of state."

You/Foria

Prepare your parts: Foria - "the original cannabis-infused sensual
enhancement oil," according to a press release - is launching in
Colorado at Aspen's Native Roots dispensary (308 S. Hunter St.,
Aspen, nativeroots303.com) during the X-Games on Jan. 21.

"Cannabis is known to promote relaxation and blood flow and also to
affect the receptors in the brain responsible for tactile sensation
and euphoria," says the release. "Women report that Foria stimulates
deeper, more accessible orgasms, improves lubrication and enhances sensation."

For the moment, accessible orgasms are only available in Aspen (and
California).

Talking trees in Lone Tree

Note that heavyweights like Gov. John Hickenlooper, U.S. Attorney
John Walsh and departing Attorney General John Suthers will speak at
a Jan. 14-16 national conference called Marijuana Impact on Public
Health and Safety in Colorado. The three-day event will be held at
the Lone Tree Performing Arts Center (10075 Common St., Lone Tree,
colochiefs.org), and registration is $325.
