CHROMICCON ADDS CELEBRITY APPEARANCES; LOCAL MASSAGE COMPANY USES
CANNA-LOTION; MORE

Bluntman and Chronic

After being rescheduled from September to Nov. 22 and 23, ChromicCon,
a Colorado Springs and Denver marijuana-themed comic convention, is
ramping up the celebrity appearances. So far, comedian Carlos
Alazraqui (James Garcia on Reno 911!), voice actor Mark Dodson (the
Mogwai in Gremlins) and several stalwarts from The Addams Family are
scheduled to appear: Felix Silla, who played Cousin Itt, and
7-foot-tall actor Carel Struycken, who of course played Lurch and
recently confirmed his appearance in a video.

"You may remember me from the Addams Family movies, Star Trek, Twin
Peaks, Men in Black and recently The Blacklist," Struycken says. "I'm
looking forward to meeting you all soon at ChromicCon."

Naturally, cosplay will factor, with awards for Sexiest Costume,
Funniest Costume and Best Overall. In a contest called Bowlwood
Derby, attendees will build Pinewood Derby cars that can double as
pipes - because Colorado - and follow rules like, "The first teammate
must pack the bowl and race it to the second teammate who must smoke
it to completion."

You must have a password to purchase tickets to the 21-and-up event,
which range from $20 to $45. But contacting Speak Easy Vape Lounge
(2508 E. Bijou St., chromiccon.com), which says final venues will be
announced 24 hours in advance of the event, is a good place to start.

Reefer rubdown

Military veterans with head, neck, shoulder and back pain;
fibromyalgia sufferers; and anyone who needs it should note that
two-location company The MassageWorks (massageworkscos.com) is
offering massage sessions using cannabis lotion made by Denver's
Apothecanna. Three kinds are available, focused around pain relief,
calming and stimulating, respectively. All are combined with
complementary ingredients like ginger, peppermint or chamomile.

"I tell them, 'Don't wash for several hours and the cannabis will
contribute to reducing inflammation,'" says owner Deb Williams. "And
it just seems like the cannabis combined with the essential oils just
makes it even more powerful."

Swedish, deep tissue and trigger-point massage are all available for
$60 per hour, and Williams says CannaBiz readers can get $10 off by
mentioning this column.

Keef crumbs

You'll be shocked to learn that the number of people who decided to
spend $25 on an edible and then trick a kid into eating it on
Halloween - as the Denver Police Department famously warned was a
possibility - apparently was zero.

With our print deadline having passed before Tuesday's release of
results, check the IndyBlog at csindy.com for coverage related to
Tuesday's election, including the vote in Manitou Springs over
recreational-marijuana stores.
