ADS LIGHT ON FACTS ABOUT MARIJUANA
The "No on Amendment 2" crowd has sunk to a new low. A recent ad
shows an attractive female MD who tells us that Amendment 2 would
permit marijuana without a doctor's prescription. Please read the
amendment. It specifies that it would be available "as determined by
a licensed Florida physician." Additionally, the ad states that it
would allow people to have medication not sanctioned by the Food and
Drug Administration. Apparently it ignores the reality that the FDA
permits prescribing medications that result in thousands of overdoses
and deaths every year. No one has overdosed on marijuana, apparently
an inconvenient truth. I fully realize that individuals should
investigate the merits of the amendment on their own, but to present
such blatant misinformation is an insult. Perhaps informing the
public of the potential dangers of marijuana vs. prescribed pain
medication would be illuminating, although potentially limiting to
some physicians' practices. Please present the facts.
