THREE BUDS WELLNESS HITS THE SCENE, DUNAFON TO SPEAK AND MORE

Tres THC hombres

Bijou Wellness Center is a local old-timer, having appeared in our
first issue of ReLeaf in April 2010. But new ownership has brought
change and a new name: BWC is now Three Buds Wellness Center (2132 E.
Bijou St., 465-2407). The move comes after former Maggie's Farm
employee Reed Mason and two friends bought the business in June.

Mason says they're still working out the kinks, so there's not a ton
of innovation yet, but you can find one unique product for sale: "We
do old-time hash," the owner says. "Nobody else really does it in town.

"It's done with a sifter instead of heat or cold process, kind of
like the way they used to do it. In the old days, in Afghanistan and
Pakistan, they'd beat it, and then the women would roll and pound, is
how they made their bricks. ... It's a different taste, different texture."

The medical-marijuana center also offers 15 percent off everything to
military veterans and those who work within the marijuana industry.
"There's a lot of owners out there that don't give discounts to their
employees," he says, "so we give discounts to everybody [with a badge]."

Banking and incubating

According to the Denver Post, a Colorado Springs company that
currently builds grow houses and leases them to growers will move to
Denver. In doing so, Advanced Cannabis Solutions will open the
state's first marijuana-business incubator and, possibly, its first
banking institution.

"The idea is for the incubator space on the second floor, but if
there's a banking opportunity, that would be explored," CEO Robert
Frichtel told the newspaper. "It's an ample amount of space to do many things."

The building will be called The Greenhouse, and features 15,734
square feet, a bank vault and 2,000 safe-deposit boxes.

Keef crumbs

The only gubernatorial candidate to be endorsed by both Wyclef Jean
and tha Doggfather himself will speak at Speak Easy Vape Lounge (2508
E. Bijou St., speakeasycannabisclub.com) at 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct.
30. "Come hear Independent Candidate for Governor, Mike Dunafon, talk
about how we can change the status quo, help support the cannabis
industry, and give people freedom of choice," says the event, which
also touts the appearance of his running mate, local banker Robin Roberts.

Halloween-heads who are 21-and-up can jam with the band Robot Peanut
Butter & the Shooting Stars at 8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 31. The recently
expanded Studio A64 (332 E. Colorado Ave., studioa64.com) is the
place; tickets are $5.
