FLORIDA'S MEDICAL MARIJUANA AMENDMENT TEXT TOO LAX, PUTS PEOPLE AT RISK

My beloved grandson, Robby, died of a drug overdose on June 2, 2013.
He began his tragic journey toward addiction at the age of 15 by
smoking marijuana, which accelerated to misusing oxycodone and ended
with heroin.

After three rehabs and one near-death experience, his life, which had
begun with such hope and promise, ended at the age of 22.

I have compassion for anyone suffering excruciating pain, but as
Sheriff Brad Steube pointed out in his Oct. 5 editorial in the
Bradenton Herald, Amendment 2 is so broadly written that medical
marijuana could be prescribed for just a headache. I urge all voters
to read the full text of this amendment (Bradenton.com/opinion) and
vote "no" for Amendment 2 which, if passed, could open the floodgates
of addiction and death to so many.
