KIDS APPRECIATE RULES ARE BEING ENFORCED

I completely disagree with Gary Trout ("Drug dogs do not belong in
our schools," Oct. 19).

As both a teacher and parent of a high school freshman, I'd be
thrilled to know that the rules are being enforced and our campuses
are being kept safe for all students.

Having the dogs on campus is not a "negative" message and only causes
"fear" in those who've done something wrong.

The message to kids is the adults here care about us to make sure we
make good choices and keep us from being surrounded by those who don't.

I'd much rather have my son round the corner into an officer and his
trained dog than into a group of kids smoking pot - or worse.
