ARGUMENT AGAINST MEDICAL POT AMENDMENT IGNORES SEVERAL POINTS

Regarding Amendment 2: To all of you out there who are so afraid of medical marijuana getting into the hands of our poor innocent youth, don't you know how easy it is already for kids to get their hands on the stuff?

It has been easy to purchase for the last 50 years since I was in college in the '60s.

There is an ever-evolving underground supply system in place, and it will never go away.  The problem is, the money spent by our kids for the product that is now available to them goes to support the drug cartels and smugglers, who provide marijuana as well as many other much more harmful drugs.

And since there is no way to assure the quality of what they buy, much of it is of questionable content, with unknown added ingredients to increase bulk, thereby increasing profit.

If kids do find a way of getting their hands on medical marijuana, and I have no doubt some will, at least it will be of less danger to them than the junk they are smoking now.

Don't forget the benefits to those who are in need of some relief from whatever debilitating conditions they are cursed with.  If it helps them, then they should have legal access to it.

Local growers will also benefit.  I say make medical marijuana legal.  Vote Yes.
