HOW LEGAL MARIJUANA IN COLORADO AFFECTS INDIAN YOUTH

Troy A. Eid infers that Colorado marijuana is linked to violent
crimes on Indian reservations in South Dakota and goes on to chastise
Coloradans for not taking responsibility for this "tragic state of
affairs." His essay is filled with statements such as "25 percent of
all American Indian young people suffer from post-traumatic stress
disorder because they're so often exposed to violent crime." A sad
point indeed, but where is the link to Colorado marijuana? Finally,
he suggests that we Coloradans are "self-centered" and ties us into
the "broken promises" to people in places like the Pine Ridge Indian
Reservation in South Dakota.

Eid is a non-Native American who chairs the National Indian Law and
Order Commission, and he blames Coloradans and our marijuana laws for
the state of affairs on Indian reservations in South Dakota.
