FREE POT IN THE PARK

Vouchers for Medical Grass Hidden

Christie Park was up in smoke on Thursday.

A group calling itself Marijuana Info Bureau (MIB) held a treasure
hunt for free pot and dozens of hopefuls showed up for the search.

Four black bags were hidden and anyone over 19 was invited to come
out for the hunt.

The only snag was that you must have a medical marijuana licence to
claim your prize.

MIB founder Chris, who wouldn't give his last name, said the daily
scavenger hunts are "a way to get people out and to feel part of the
community and to learn more about their rights when it comes to smoking."

He said Thursday's supply came from medical growers in British
Columbia, a province well-known for its weed.

"(The pot) is much better than the strains you would find on the
streets in Toronto and much safer to come by," he said.

People searched inside bushes, in bus stops and on playgrounds after
clues were sent out on social media Toronto) shortly before 5 p.m.

"This is so awesome," said 27-year-old Coco Markus, the first winner
of seven free grams of marijuana.

"It's legit and very interesting," said Markus, adding that she had
been worried it might have been a police set-up when she heard about
the hunt on Twitter.

She found her prize under second base on one of the park's baseball
diamonds. "We hide vouchers because we don't want to be negligent and
have children finding the pot," Chris said.

"We don't want to be rattling the law either because we haven't had
any problems so far."

On Sept. 7, MIB is planning to host a massive treasure hunt in High
Park where $25,000 worth of marijuana and smoke products will be given away.

According to the most recent Statistics Canada data, there are over
11,000 people in Ontario with authorization to possess the dried
narcotic and close to 40,000 in Canada.
