SCOTT SIGNS MEDICAL POT LEGISLATION

TALLAHASSEE - Gov. Rick Scott signed a bill Monday that legalizes a
form of medical marijuana touted as way to help relieve symptoms of
children with epilepsy and for cancer patients.

The law decriminalizes a version of cannabis nicknamed "Charlotte's
Web" after a Colorado child. It is low in the chemical that gets
people high when smoking the plant.

Scott had already pledged to sign SB 1030, which creates a legal
system for producing, dispensing and studying the drug in Florida for
patients who are permanent residents of the state with cancer or
conditions leading to seizures.

"As a father and grandfather, you never want to see kids suffer,"
Scott said in a news release.
