WORST POLICY FAILURE IN HISTORY

I strongly disagree with Don Addy (Letters: "What Amendment 64 Has
Wrought," May 14). Sooner or later, intelligent citizens realize that
with or without cannabis (marijuana) legalization, some people will have
problems with the relatively safe plant.

The difference is that smart citizens know it is just plain wrong to
cage responsible cannabis users because there are some people who use
the plant excessively. That's one reason why support for ending
cannabis prohibition, nationwide, is quickly growing. The original
prohibition with alcohol was a dismal failure and the sequel with
cannabis has proved to be one of America's worst policy failures in
history. Cannabis prohibitionists might consider getting used to the
end of persecuting responsible adults for using a plant.
